Nepal and Cambodia are two of the poorest countries on earth. Take a trip down any street in Siem Reap or turn any corner in Kathmandu and you will probably find something you could write home about.
Certainly, the images from these cities can be stark, breathtaking and, at times, emotionally overwhelming.

However, not all stories are sad. While many people live their lives existing from day to day, sometimes not knowing when they will next eat, you will constantly find warmth and friendliness from people who will often share their dreams with you - along with their food.
You can visit the internet and scroll through the many reports relating to the poorest countries in the world - and Nepal and Cambodia will feature strongly in all of them. However, statistics don't tell the whole story, which is why Dr Colin Woodley, EWC our overseas business partner, the sponsors and the children themselves have put pen to paper in order to describe their feelings.

Some of the stories are sad and some reflect happiness. All point strongly to hope - hope of a better education which they know will lead the children to a better life - maybe one that will take them and their family members to a place above the poverty line and provide them with a job, a decent income and some food on the table.
